7 November 2022 – Carrascal Ridge

Today’s walk as seen from our naya

Only 12 of us for todays walk

Might be because I wrote it up as our hardest walk

Which it is, and I wanted everyone to be prepared

We had 19 on last week’s walk

So the numbers speak for themselves

It is almost four years since I last did this walk

But I remembered the route ok and did not need my satnav

We made good progress to the banana stop

Where the views were just as impressive as I remembered them

Right from the start I found it more difficult than when I last did it

And I was not alone

As expected it got much harder after our banana break

One member in particular really struggled

But we all made it safely to the top

Where we all recovered during our picnic stop

Once again it was difficult to find the path

And it was more difficult to follow than last time

It was much easier walking on the ridge

And we had frequent water stops to admire the view

Always good to see the observation hut

Where the long winding road starts

Which leads to the Col de  Rates and our waiting cars

Temperature – 16-21c

Time taken – 6 hours

Distance – 10 km

Total Ascent – 685 metres
