Should have been 21 of us for today’s walk
But there were 6 cancellations 36 hours before the walk
This reduced us to a more manageable 15
Shortage of notice meant we could not offer a walk to the reserve list
At last a sunny day for our weekly walk
What a relief after so many wet and miserable Monday’s
I was concerned that it might be too hot
Particularly as we have two climbs in this walk
Fortunately most of the climb was shaded by trees
And we also had lots of water stops
I managed to drink two litres of water
The spectacular views from the top made it well worthwhile
For some of the group this was their first time for this walk
Surprisingly that included Barry and Linda
They have done it many times, but never before to the summit
First time also for Trevor and Laura, who found a quiet spot to enjoy the views
First time for me without Jan, who is still at home nursing her broken wrist
Despite the heat it was a very enjoyable walk
And much appreciated by everyone who took part
A very suitable last walk for David and Sandra before they return to the UK
Time taken – 6 hours
Distance – 11 km
Total ascent – 504 metres
Temperature – 14-23c
