Autumn has arrived, and with it changes in the weather
We had to cancel last week due to weather forecast of storms
As often happens there were no storms, not even heavy rain
Today the forecast was spot on – overcast but dry
It is a shame because this walk through the trees looks so much better on a sunny day
Today should have been the start of our regular walking season
But I had been looking forward to this walk
So we did an extra shorter summer walk
It is always difficult to anticipate how many will walk at the start of the season
Some regular members miss the summer walks entirely
And I am never sure whether they will return in October
There were 27 on the membership list as available
This just means that they had not told me they were not available
So I included all 27 on the initial invitation email
Five were not available
Four accepted but then cancelled before the walk
Two did not reply at all.
This left us with 16, which is the normal maximum
This included Derek, who came as a guest of Alan
Another very enjoyable walk
Time taken – 3.5 hours
Distance – 9.5 km
Total ascent – 150 metres
Temperature – 18-24c
What are the walking seasons where you live?
